| About Granny Granny was born December 30, 1944. She was a daughter to a Dairy Farmer in Confluence Pennsylvania, being the youngest of six children. Judy loved to ride her pet cow Annette, around the farm as if it were a horse. She was also fond of a brown cow that she thought would eventually produced chocolate milk for her. Granny moved to Indiana in 1967 where she raised her four children, and later married Jerry Rubeck of Poland, Indiana. In October of 2001 she lost her life to Lung Cancer. Granny was an active member of our community. She was a Poland Volunteer Firefighter for approximately 15 years, and was involved with Wayne Township Fire Department for a few years. As a firefighter she trained her Dalmatian to”Stop - Drop - Roll" as a teaching aid for children so they would know what to do if they caught on fire. Judy was also a member of American Legion Auxiliary at Unit #275. In the spring of 1989 she became an EMT and worked for Operation Life Ambulance Company in Greencastle Indiana. She loved her job as an EMT and was devastated when medical complications restricted her to an office job. This minor set back did not hold her back, for she was the one who designed the first computer billing system for OL that remained in use until October 2002. Judy was a wonderful Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, & Friend who is sadly missed by all who knew her. The Granny Ride is an on going memory and tribute of the passionate love that Granny had for any person whose life she may have touched. Our purpose is to raise money to help adults that have cancer. We are asking everyone to step forward and participate in a cause that could affect lives across the country. Who knows, the life you save may be your own! Every effort helps in the war against cancer! Any donation in any amount is greatly appreciated. I have discovered some interesting facts about cancer. 1 out of every 3 adults will develop cancer at some point in their life. In 2007 there were 30,040 new cases of cancer reported in Indiana. Please help us help others with a fight we all must win! As in prior years, proceeds are divided in half. Half will go to The Wellness Community. The rest is given to a family(s) going through treatment and who are in need of the extra help. The demand is high and the response is urgent! With people like You ~ we can make a difference!
